505 BLUES
505 Blues is fast becoming a hit with area fans since its inception in 2007. And with the release of their new CD “Got It Bad,” they have commanded larger and larger crowds who can't get enough of the bands infectious grooves. The 505 sound is reminiscent of great bar band rock, full of searing guitar, harp and keyboard leads. 505 is Jacob Crawford on lead guitar and vocals, Don Fenton on harmonica and vocals, Dennis Montgomery on keys, Donald Specker on Bass and Russ Maracle on drums and vocals. Earning opening slots for national acts as Johnny Winter and Rick Estrin and the Nightcats, 505 fills a void in the Blues scene, with a sound that is a departure from the usual fare. Tight and masterful licks, along with powerful stage presence, make a 505 Blues show something not to be missed.

Eastern Blok
The Los Angeles Times calls Eastern Blok’s music “relentlessly innovative work.”
Downbeat Magazine claims that “the ensemble playing is often breakneck and consistently challenging.”
Acoustic Guitar Magazine raves that Eastern Blok plays with “blazing virtuosity and sheer beauty.”
EASTERN BLOK’s “extraordinary pan-cultural ensemble effortlessly blends classical and jazz music with the rich folkloric traditions of Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia. The resulting music is as alluring as it is complex. Exotic Middle Eastern motifs merge gracefully with the evocative sounds of Eastern European klezmer music. Beautifully conceived folk passages are followed by perfectly executed Mahavishnu-inspired pyrotechnics. The passion and urgency at which this group plays is heard in every note…” -- (Minor 7th Magazine).
EASTERN BLOK features classical guitar virtuoso GORAN IVANOVIC, joined by DOUG ROSENBERG on woodwinds, MATTHEW ULERY on upright bass, and MICHAEL CASKEY on percussion.

Hank Roberts
“...One of the most respected improvising cellists on the international scene.”
--JAZZ EXPRESS
“He strums, plucks and bows his way through an incredible array of sounds, by turns far-out and spacey, then earthy and natural. It’s the sound of urban Jazz lofts, but also Irish firesides, Lenni Lenape dances, Jimi Hendrix and Stephen Foster.”
-- ITHACA COMMUNITY SPIRIT
“able to shift through the best elements of European classical music, pop and jazz, and bring them to a reapproachment that sounds new.”
-- THE NEW YORK TIMES
“Roberts dazzled the crowd...sonic ferocity that could only recall Jimi Hendrix...the interplay was marvelous...I couldn’t have been much more inspired.”

The Blue Hit
In just two years, Austin’s The Blue Hit has evolved to something special, something else, something extraordinary; so far, in fact, that the question of genre is answered variously as progressive folk, eclectic pop, and even easy listening. It is only a cello, a spine-tingling female voice and a guitar, delicately interlacing amid intelligent poetry. With music that is well- orchestrated, expertly executed and renders audiences speechless, they play festivals, listening rooms, bar/venues and house concerts across the country and are known to unplug when the setting is just right.

Alan Rose
"AMERICAN HANDS" CD RELEASE PARTY
Join us for a super-sized celebration of the release of Alan Rose's third CD, and the first with his backing band the Restless Elements. American Hands is a collection of story-songs set in the U.S. of today, written with a focus on smart lyrics and catchy melodies.
Alan Rose is the songwriter over the twelve-string edge. Drawing from that corner of the musical world where rock, pop, country, and folk meet, his set shifts unpred...ictably from sensitive to funny, from mellow to high-energy, from power pop to waltz, at a moment’s notice. Alan is a prolific songwriter who has been making his mark on the Ithaca music scene for over a decade. Prior to that, he spent nine years playing to crowds at colleges, open mics, and biker bars in the Philadelphia area.
The Restless Elements are a high-energy seven-piece band that combines the forces of a pair of other Ithaca-area bands (Kites in Space and the Weeping Willards) into something entirely different. The four-piece rhythm section and three-piece horn section kick Alan's songs up a notch and guarantee that they'll keep you moving.
Alan Rose and the Restless Elements will be playing two big sets, and there are four other bands on the bill. Everyone's going to have CDs, T-Shirts, and other fun stuff up for sale. And to make sure you're not left hungry, Funk 'n' Waffles will be serving up tasty waffles all night long. Plus you'll be able to make your own American Hand to take home with you!
All this for the low, low cover of just $7.
Plan to come out early and stay late for a festive night celebrating a project that's been years in the making.
Schedule (subject to change):

Deep Blue Organ Trio
The Deep Blue Organ Trio began officially performing under that moniker in 2000, even though Hammond B-3 organist Chris Foreman, drummer Greg Rockingham, and guitarist Bobby Broom had known each other since the '80s, playing clubs around their hometown of Chicago. Consistently crossing each others' paths, they eventually gigged around the Windy City as a unit, while individually, backing up jazz and blues legends including Hank Crawford, Albert Collins, Nat Adderley, Kenny Burrell, Charles Earland, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Stanley Turrentine, and Kenny Burrell, among others.
By 2001 the trio began to successfully assert their musical mission of bringing the jazz organ trio format into the new millennium. Steeped not only in organ jazz, the trio mixes funk, soul, R&B, gospel, and spirituals into the collective mix. The Deep Blue Organ Trio released their first album on Delmark, Deep Blue Bruise in 2004. The follow up, Going to Town: Live at the Green Mill was recorded live during their weekly Tuesday nights at Chicago's Green Mill Lounge, their steady gig since 2003. A DVD of the show was released in tandem with the CD. Their 2008 release, Folk Music, won a Chicago Music Award and held a #2 spot on the national jazz radio chart for a month.

Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus is a rock and roll band from Glen Rock. There are four people in the band. Titus Andronicus take their name from a minor Shakespearean tragedy, not, as many people believe, from some sort of killer robot from the future. Titus Andronicus formed in the spring of 2005. Titus Andronicus’ debut long player, “The Airing of Grievances” was released in April of 2008 by Troubleman Unlimited, and re-released by XL Recordings in January 2009. XL will release Titus Andronicus’ sophomore long player, “The Monitor,” in March 2010.
Titus Andronicus have shared stages with such noted, world-famous luminaries as Yo La Tengo, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, No Age, The Hold Steady, Fucked Up, Times New Viking, and Los Campesinos. Titus Andronicus practice at Ian’s house.
Titus Andronicus sometimes disagree on what is the right thing to do. Titus Andronicus like to scream and carry on at excessive volume. Titus Andronicus like songs which are fast more than songs which are slow. Titus Andronicus think slow songs are okay sometimes. Titus Andronicus never sing about love, only hate. Titus Andronicus have no hope for the future. Titus Andronicus believe only in nothingness. Everyone in Titus Andronicus was born to die. Titus Andronicus crave your approval but will settle for your utter disdain.
Above all else, Titus Andronicus want to sleep on your floor.

Free Energy
Cult Minneapolis rockers Hockey Night split up a couple of years back, and for a time mainmen Scott Wells and Paul Sprangers continued to operate under that moniker. They altered their musical orientation, got signed to DFA, and recorded an album with LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy playing bass and manning the mixing desk, and Pat Mahoney on drums. FACT was fortunate enough to hear a few tracks at DFA HQ last year and can tell you that they sound great – very un-DFA in a way, with a real high-fidelity, guitar-heavy and totally unironic AM-rock sound reminds us of Tom Petty and great summers.
The band is a quintet – Sprangers and Wells are joined by Geoff Bucknam, Nicholas Shuminsky and Evan Wells – and they’ve changed their name to Free Energy. DFA are currently giving away a free track by the band, ‘Dream City’, taken from the forthcoming album. It’s the first publicly available material by Free Energy and it’s brilliant, obviously.

Lost Sailors
Lost Sailors have been playing for over 12 years, has performed over 400 shows, and is widely considered to be the premier interpretive Grateful Dead tribute band in Upstate N.Y. We've built a solid reputation for high-energy, carefully-crafted, and unpredictable performances, as well as the most consistently enjoyable club sound production around.
Their shows follow the Grateful Dead's traditional two-long-sets format, with a wide-ranging mix of rock, folk, blues, and country-pickin', mainly electric with some acoustic treatments. Improvisational jams are punctuated by sweet ballads and classic show stoppers. Music people of all ages and tastes love to listen and dance to.

Thousands of One
A band born to change society through music, Thousands of One core members' first gig was in a maximum security youth prison. At one point, lead singer, Jhakeem Haltom gave the mic to one of the inmates who let his voice be heard. It was a defining moment for the band.
Conscious music, revolution sounds, liberation time!
Something deep happens when dedication to social change meets the burning desire to make amazing music. We give thanks for being alive! We give thanks that we can travel this beautiful road! We give thanks for a million things, and do our human best to put it into music.
This is the essence of Thousands of One - to build connections between people and live inspired lives, striving to bring that inspiration into the world around us.
Gaining notoriety for their spirited live shows throughout the nation, Thousands of One jumps from activist/retro soul - think Olu Dara or Marvin Gaye - to cross Atlantic afrobeat/funk jams as in Fela Kuti meets James Brown- to underground Hiphop a la The Roots or Talib Kweli with a funk rock edge.
